How to identify Biofinity® wearers

In this section, we will be sharing some recommended questions you can use at different stages of the patients’ journey with you, to better identify potential Biofinity wearers.

New Wearers

Introducing Biofinity® to patients who are new to contact lenses

Stage 1 - Identifying required vision correction

Recommended questions:

  1. How is your vision in your daily life?
  2. Are you satisfied with it?
  3. Do you have difficulties reading the newspaper? Or seeing the number of the bus that is approaching the bus stop? What about the menu board at the café? And the menu at restaurants?

Stage 2 - Understanding their work and lifestyle

Recommended questions:

  1. Tell me about your job.
  2. Does your work require you to look at the computer screen for long hours? Does this cause your eyes to feel fatigued?
  3. What do you in your free time? What are your hobbies?
  4. Do you travel often?
  5. Are there instances where you feel you can do better without glasses?

Stage 3 - Eye examination

Suggested recommendations:

  1. Patients who have indicated that spectacles are a hindrance to their type of work/lifestyle, recommend Biofinity®
  2. For patients with astigmatism (-0.75DC and above), please recommend Biofinity toric for clearer vision

Stage 4 - Inform patient of product adaptation

Suggested recommendation:
“Sounds like you are very outdoorsy / travel often / spend long hours in front of the computer. Contact lenses give you freedom to enjoy what you love. These Biofinity lenses that I am recommending use the Aquaform® Comfort Science TM Technology, which is a premium material technology that delivers more oxygen and moisture to your eyes, giving you all day comfort.”
* It will be good to remind your patient they may need a day or 2 to adapt to their new life with contact lenses.

Introducing Biofinity® to existing hydrogel contact lens patients

Stage 1 - Identifying required vision correction

Recommended questions:

  1. Are you happy with the vision with your current contact lens?
  2. Do you have difficulties reading the newspaper? Or seeing the number of the bus that is approaching the bus stop? What about the menu board at the café? And the menu at restaurants?

Stage 2 - Discovering their need to upgrade to silicone hydrogel lenses

Recommended questions:

  1. How many days in a week do you wear contact lenses?
  2. How many hours a day do you wear your contact lenses?
    a. Each day, what time do you start wearing your contact lenses?
    b. What time do you normally remove your contact lenses? * If the number of hours reported in 2 is different from 2a and 2b, it may indicate that the patient is not aware of the actual number of hours they wear their lenses.
  3. Does your work require you to look at the computer screen for prolonged periods?
  4. What kind of activities do you engage in outside of work?
  5. Do you travel frequently?

Stage 3 - Eye examination

Suggested recommendations:
If answers in Stage 2 indicate prolonged wear, which means high oxygen transmissibility lenses are preferred, offer them a pair of Biofinity® trial lenses.

  1. For patients with astigmatism (-0.75DC and above), please recommend Biofinity toric for clearer vision.
  2. For patients who may be experiencing near vision difficulties, please recommend Biofinity Multifocal.

Stage 4 - Inform patient of product adaptation

Suggested recommendation:
“These Biofinity lenses that I am recommending use the Aquaform® Comfort Science™ Technology, which is a premium material technology that delivers more oxygen and moisture to your eyes, giving you all day comfort.”

Stage 5 - Insert trial lens and check lens fitting

Introducing Biofinity® to patients who are wearing other brands of silicone hydrogel contact lenses

Stage 1 - Identifying required vision correction

Recommended questions:

  1. Are you happy with the vision with your current contact lens?
  2. Do you have difficulties reading the newspaper? Or seeing the number of the bus that is approaching the bus stop? What about the menu board at the café? And the menu at restaurants?

Stage 2 - Understanding their relationship with existing brand of contact lenses

Recommended questions:

  1. How long have you been wearing your current brand of contact lenses?
  2. Do you encounter any problems when you are wearing those lenses, like dry eyes, red eyes or discomfort?
  3. When do you encounter those problems? Is it at the beginning of the wear, end of the day or end of the wearing cycle?
  4. Do you face this problem frequently?

Stage 3 - Eye examination

Suggested recommendations:
If answers in Stage 2 indicate problems with current contact lenses, advise them Biofinity® may be a good alternative to their current brand.

  1. For patients with astigmatism (-0.75DC and above), please recommend Biofinity toric for clearer vision.
  2. For patients who may be experiencing near vision difficulties, please recommend Biofinity Multifocal.

Stage 4 - Inform patient of product adaptation

Suggested recommendation:
